Farewell Semester 1

Dear Parents,

Greetings. We can’t believe that the end of Semester 1 is here! This half of a year has flown by and we are so grateful for this super group of children that we have been blessed to share our days with. We will miss our dear friends, Rumi and Fefe, who are off on new adventures and won’t be joining our class again in January. We also send off our amazing intern, Ibu Devi, with lots of love and hugs. We will always keep you in our love hearts and thanks for the wonderful semester together.

One of our buddies from Teman-Teman came to our classroom on Tuesday morning to surprise us as a Mystery Guest. Her name is Maddie and she is from Grade 5B. She used to live in Japan and wanted to show the Starlings how to make cranes with origami. Maddie patiently guided us step-by-step as we were challenged to follow to instructions and fold the paper in many different ways. It was an amazing experience. We love learning from older students. On Monday afternoon, our buddies created board games and taught us how to play! We look forward to continuing our weekly visits with Grade 5B in Semester 2.

In Bahasa Indonesia Class, we tried a new game called “Engklek”. This is the Indonesian version of “Hopscotch”. It was a fun way to practise counting and numeral identification.

To get in the holiday spirit, we made gingerbread cookies in Cooking Class. The students enjoyed using the cookie cutters to make their own shapes and helped to prepare the batter as well. They were tasty and not too sweet!

Here are some more samples of the activities we did this week:

Pass the hula hoop around the circle while holding hands.

Transplanting seedlings to our compost planter.

Dance party in Music Class.

Exploring musical theory in Bambajam Class.

P.E. Class with Pak Garrett.

Mindfulness moment during yoga obstacle course.

Massage train in Yoga Class.

Have a fantastic vacation and looking forward to seeing you in the new year. Thank you for your love and support. Happy Holidays!

Warm regards,

Ibu Russlee, Ibu Krisna and Ibu Komang
