Geckos ~ Week 3 of Term 2

Dear Parents and Friends,

This week the Geckos explored a new fairy tale. “Once upon a Time, there were two old bakers who made gingerbread cookie shaped like a man and they put it in the oven.  Then …. ”

We had so much fun making gingerbread man cookie during our Cooking Class. It felt like we were getting ready for Christmas :). We mixed, stirred, and made the dough using cassava flour, ginger powder, cinnamon powder, eggs, and palm sugar. Then we made man shaped ginger cookies, decorated them with raisins, and put them in the oven.

Then during our Nature Walk, we went to Green Camp. We found Cassava plant, Cinnamon tree, and Ginger plant.

Then we enjoyed eating the Gingerbread Cookies. Yummm…

Decorating the Gingerbread man was also really fun.

We made house for Gingerbread Man, so hopefully the fox would not it it.

The children also learned another kind word “Peace”.  They created Peace Sign using recycled cardboard.

We had a wonderful musical week this week. On Thursday and Friday, we practiced our performance for the first Early Years Indonesian Assembly which will be on the 23rd of November. All parents are invited to this special event. We had Pak Brett, Pak Made, Pak Aris, and Pak Alex coming to sing an Indonesian folk song with instruments.

This week, we also welcomed Ibu Chloe who join us every Tuesday and Wednesday to help us and play with us. The children were so happy to meet her.

Next Monday, we will celebrate Full Moon at the school temple. Please pack ceremonial clothes and the teachers will help the children to get changed at school. There will be no school next Friday for teacher’s Professional Development Day.

We hope you have an amazing weekend and see you on Monday.

Much love,

Ibu Kadek, Ibu Pipit, Ibu Dewi
