Dear Parents and Friends,
Note from Geckos’ teachers: We are very grateful each day for always having so much fun spent with our little Geckos children at school. It has always been a blessed to see them growing in many ways.
We started this week by having a Dark Moon ceremony, which celebrated by the whole Early Years students and teachers. We usually celebrate Full Moon and this was the first time we celebrated Dark Moon at school. It was preceded by making Kwangen in the morning.
This week, we started a new thematic lesson, which is the last thematic unit this year, “Sing a Song of Opposite”. The children have been learning about opposite through songs, movements, stories, as well as exposing the surrounding objects in the classroom and around campus.
The children created happy vs sad/cross face puppet. They learned how to express these feelings with facial gestures.
We also experimented that heavy object cannot be blown easily and on the other hand, light object can be blown easily.
The mystery guests, the Indigenous people, came on Monday and Tuesday in Kindy B classroom and shared their multi talented skills, such as story telling, games, as well as traditional dance.
It’s getting closed to our bi-annual event, the Early Years Indonesian Assembly. The children and the teachers has been busy preparing for this special event, starting from the the practice, decorating the costumes, and getting recycled materials for the stage decoration in Kembali.
In cooking Class, we made Biji Salak, it’s a traditional Indonesian desert made from sweet potato, palm sugar, coconut milk, and a little bit of corn starch.
The children exposed partner yoga poses during Yoga Class.
