Grade 1 at Green Camp!

Dear Grade 1 Community,

Wow!  What an amazing day we had at Green Camp this week!  Firstly, we want to say a huge well done to all of the Grade 1 students!  You had a great time, took part in lots of fun and adventurous activities and through it all were polite, respectful and happy.  Great job!  Secondly, we need to say a massive thank you to the staff at Green Camp for helping us to have such a wonderful experience.

Our day started with a scavenger hunt around Green Camp before we got started with coconut tree climbing.  This was a real highlight for lots of us and we are really proud about how we challenged ourselves to join in with something so tricky and scary!  Following a quick snack we made some coconut leaf head bands and then had some free time to play, explore and discover Green Camp.

For lunch we made our own pizzas!  These were delicious!  Ask us about making our pizzas colourful…  After we had finished eating and had some play time, we split into two groups and got started with the afternoon activities.  One group began the afternoon by learning all about chocolate before we got to have a go at roasting, peeling, grinding and sifting cacao beans to make our own chocolate sauce.  It was yummy!  The other group had a lesson in kite making and then got to make some beautiful kites of our own.  We loved it and can’t wait to fly them.  When we had finished these activities the groups swapped over so everyone had a chance to join in with all activities.

We had a truly memorable day and are looking forward to going back to Green Camp in Grade 2 already!

  1. Please remember that school will be closed on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th May as well as Friday 1st June.

  2. On Monday 28th May Grade 1 will be having an exploration activity morning.  The children will get to take part in a variety of activities in different places around the school.  This will allow them to continue developing their independence in a view to preparing for Grade 2 while exploring the amazing Green School campus.

  3. Grade 1 are also planning on having a mud and water activity day on Thursday 31st May.  We will send out more details about this, but please note the children will need clothes to get wet and muddy in as we are hoping to go in to the mud pit.

Thank you very much and have a lovely weekend!

The Grade 1 Team.
