Grade 1: Term 4, Week 4

Dear Families and Friends,

Wow, what a busy week it has been following Sustainable Solutions.  We have been working really hard to get back into the regular rhythm of Grade 1!

In maths this week we have had a great time exploring and learning about symmetry.  We have learned what symmetry is and have looked at and then created lots of symmetrical insects in a wonderful link with our thematic.  In literacy this week we have carried on working on our literacy rotation practising lots of different literacy skills.  We have started working in groups combined across the year group and have really enjoyed and benefited from practising our skills in these different groups.  We are looking forward to keeping on working in these groups as the year goes on.  In thematics this week we have begun learning about life cycles.  This has been really interesting and we are looking forward to learning even more next week.  On top of that, we have continued developing our understanding about insect habitats and had a great time refreshing the mini terrariums we created last week.

  1. There is no school assembly this Friday the 27th April.

  2. Next Monday April 30th is a Full Moon Ceremony.  Please make sure that your child comes to school wearing ceremony clothes with a change of clothing in their bag.

  3. Next Tuesday May 1st is a holiday and school is closed.

Thank you very much and have a lovely weekend!

The Grade 1 Team.
