Grade 2~ week 2

Hi Grade 2 community,

Another week has flown by! We are enjoying getting to know each other and are learning each others’ names and the things that make them special.

We continue to work in small groups and rotations doing a wide variety of activities split amongst our 4 teachers, Ibu Neni, Ibu Peni, Pak Jerry and Ibu Emma. This week these activities included:

~ Thinking about who is in our communities; our family, our friends and now our class community.

~ Learning how to introduce ourselves and our friends in Bahasa Indonesia using games and some writing.

~ Playing numeracy games and practicing our number skills.

~ Considering different reading strategies and practicing listening to reading, reading with a buddy and doing some independent reading outside in nature.

~ Introducing mindfulness and doing mindful colouring using three colours in a quiet space of our own.

~ Taking part in some classroom yoga to stretch our bodies and calm our minds in the morning.

~ Playing name games.. we’re getting there learning each others’ names!

~ Continuing to learn routines and where to play on campus.

~ Making new friends 🙂

~And a highlight of community team building.. our boiled egg challenge!

For the boiled egg challenge we worked as a team to create a box protection for an egg. The challenge was to throw it off the roof and see if it survived! What fun we had together. There were a few cracks in some eggs but most survived! It actually took longer to unwrap them to see if they survived than it did to put them together! We have a class full of creative engineers!

This week we visited some new learning spaces. On Tuesday we visited library where we met the librarian, Ibu Ayu Rosita who introduced our library agreements and took us on a scavenger hunt. On Wednesday we visited our Green Studies and Science teams where we worked in small groups and completed a variety of activities outdoors. We also had fun with Pak Garrett and Pak Putu Joni in our Physical Wellbeing class.

On Thursday we had a lot of fun learning about and celebrating Indonesian Independence Day. Our wonderful Indonesian teachers explained all about why and how Indonesians celebrate and we had a lot of fun playing traditional games around the Primary School.

Have a fun weekend and we’ll see you back on Monday!
