Dear 5a Parents and Families,
We have just finished up week 5, and are now over half-way through term 3 (Wow!). This week in math we took on multiplying and simplifying fractions, and finished the week with another new hand-on math game to help us better understand these concepts. In Literacy we are nearly to the end of our fun-filled class novel The 14th Goldfish and will be wrapping up with an alternative ending skit and writeup. Finally, in thematics we are nearly finished with all of our super intricate mechanical sculptures (made almost entirely of the deconstructed materials from Kembali). We filmed the process of students building and tinkering with their creations, and plan to showcase them in a gallery walk this coming week! Please see photos below for more details.
Next week we’ll be diving into dividing fractions in math, wrapping up our literacy/ class novel activities, and starting a totally new Thematics project with our class Ogah-Ogah build!
Dates to note:
Wednesday is “V day” and there will be a short dance, and then assembly held in the afternoon (starting at 1:45). Students do not need to bring or wear anything special to school for this.
Friday No School (Chinese New Year)
Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend!
-Grade 5a Team
