Green School Green Generation has been an evolving entity in the GS community for several years now that has traveled far and wide to bring youth voices to the forefront of climate activism.
Our Mission and Vision
Green Generation is a group of youth that envisions a new generation of people connected to the earth while creating positive change in pursuit of climate justice. We raise awareness through interdisciplinary art, education, and activism. We work to inspire action, hold humans accountable, and demonstrate how we can take responsibility NOW! We understand that anthropogenic climate change is an issue that affects each and every one of us-and that collective action is the way forward.
This year a group of 10 students and 3 teachers are once again embarking on a journey to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. COP24 will be held in Katowice, Poland this year and is an exciting opportunity for Green Generation to bring youth voices to the global conversations regarding our future. In previous years there have been performances, art installations, workshops, booths, and presentations (among other things) brought to the COP/COY by Green School students looking to make a difference. This year the focus is on Climate Justice, Interconnectedness, Indigenous Peoples, and our Forests. These themes will be weaved into every aspect of the performance, art, and educational materials the students create and bring to Poland. Up until the December break, our COP team will be working hard to learn, plan, prepare, and create. Representing the Green School Community at the Climate Change Summit is an honor and we especially appreciate all the support we have received from students, parents, teachers, and staff in making this experience happen! Look out for bake sales, t-shirts, and farmers market booths to support our fundraising efforts.
