Happy Valentine’s Day! The students showed their love by creating gorgeous artwork for their family and classmates. We practiced writing “I love you” to share the message of love. Heart stamps were made with recycled toilet paper rolls and paint. The children exchanged their valentines with each other during Morning Circle Time. The students expressed that they felt happy and silly when surprising their friend with the love card. We also joined the entire Green School community on the field after lunch to dance together.
This week, we continued our exploration of our thematic lesson entitled, “Transformations”. We experimented with shaving cream and food coloring. The students also observed their mung beans sprouting and expressed excitement for the changes that are occurring. In Cooking Class, we made delicious whole wheat bread. It was fun to watch the batter change from powder to a sticky mess. After the children kneaded the dough, we left it to rise and then observed how much the size changed. After baking in the oven, the students shared the bread and enjoyed it with butter, honey, cheese, and/or strawberry jam.
We had a great time celebrating Ichi’s 5th Birthday! Our classroom was decorated with gorgeous flowers and we shared a yummy birthday cake at Snack Time. Happy birthday Ichi!
School was closed on Wednesday due to a national holiday and also closed today for a PD Day for staff. We look forward to a full week together at school next week. We sincerely hope you enjoy your long weekend.
