High School Happenings This Week

Amazing work by the River Boom Jalan Jalan group this week alongside high school students from the local school in Cemagi. After a formal and interesting introductory meeting in the Kantok Desa with local government and Bye Bye Plastic Bag team, we all went to finish and test out our river boom. On behalf of Green School and Bye Bye Plastic Team the students gifted the new and improved beam to the local school to put in to action. It was incredible to work as part of a team, creating new green youth ambassadors and see the work of local government to change the impact of trash in their environment. So much to do and so much to learn! Big thanks to the BBPB team for organising such an incredible day and inviting us along!

In PE, Grade 11 student, Declan teaching how to do jumping acrobatics related to capoeira, trickin and parkour.  Here grade 12 student, Made, is practicing a side flip with Pak Kyle supporting.

Our Islamic Studies class always begins with geography and map work. You can’t truly learn about the history of parts of the

The grade 9 science learning about plants, starting with photosynthesis and ending with the plant transport system through experiments and art.

Environmental science: Tempe making is in progress while visiting our neighborhood in a small home industry of Tempe. Do you know that soy beans that they use are actually form United States?

Our little friend in grade 3 invited us to learn with them in their thematic class about tempe as a traditional. Perfect timing!!. So HS went to grade 3 to learn together/teach them about tempe making.

In Jalan Jalan, students learned that  Silver jewelry making is not as easy as it looks, but HS students proved good learners, as they carved and soldered silver to create rings and pendulum using traditional tools.
