“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, Love like you’ll never be hurt, Sing like there’s nobody listening, And live like it’s heaven on Earth.” – William W. Purkey-
Yup we have been dancing all week long because we love dancing and it is dance week. We have learnt various movements inside and outside the classroom; even during PW class. Here you go, we danced with Grade 7, wow they are all stars! Look at our picture dancing in a costumes and special Indian clothes. If you were here you would see how beautiful our movement was. We are such a talented dancers.
What is the coolest and greenest project you have done this week?
“Mother Earth Speaks: You live in my womb, learn from my seasons and grow old in my arms
Listen to my heart I give you garments woven in gold
I bless your arrival then let you fly free knowing forever we are one you and I” – Ramon Ravenswood –
And you know what, we have been making Mother Earth happy by gardening. Well this week is so special because we have done gardening at school and with our neighbor. We had our second visit to local Kindergarten school, TK Goval Khanti Kumara. What an awesome visit. We shared many activities together, we played, we danced, and we laughed. We started planting some seeds such us cucumber and beans for our pizza garden project. We made some necklaces, and bracelets. We created different shapes out of playdough. We are looking forward to meeting them again.
At school, we excitedly participated in the “Bamboo Nursery Project”. What does it mean? Bamboo is who we are and we love to take an action to improve the welfare of our favorite tall grass by planting bamboo. We helped to plant 5,000 individual seedlings at Green School. You can find the nursery in the space of land below Green Camp, next to the Yoga Studio.
“Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love.” – Craig Claiborne –
In our weekly cooking class, we made cinnamon rolls. Here are the ingredients if you want try it: flour, yeast, milk, water, brown sugar, and eggs. First we mixed the dry ingredients, second stirred in the wet dry then we slowly added the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. We strengthened our muscles by kneading and rolling the dough, developing our fine motor skills as we did it. Oops the last ingredient was love. Hope you liked them!
“Yoga is not just repetition of a few postures – it is more about the exploration and discovery of the subtle energies of life.”
– Amit Ray –
In yoga, we practiced some yoga poses and have learnt some new movements like the grasshopper pose. Ibu Cherry, our yoga teacher, shared how yoga is powerful that can help to strengthen our body.
Look what we created during Green Science class. We went on a treasure hunt around the school. There is not such a beautiful gift from Mother Earth than nature. We are so thankful that we live in the jungle and play with her present to us all.
Thank you for supporting and involving to our shift this week. It is such a great challenge for everybody here. Did you choose the move or pause, nourish, or mindful?
“Play is not a break from learning. It is endless, delightful, deep, engaging, practical learning. It’s the doorway into the child’s heart!”
