Kite Making Class

For the past week, Green School English class had the opportunity to work with Kul Kul Connection students and GS Middle School students to make their own kites. The students learned some of the basics of the kite design process – to brainstorm, to draw out our ideas, to collaborate and to solve problems together. The final project was to host a Kite Flying Contest. Around 30 students, with kites of all different shapes and sizes, joined the contest. Even though it was not a windy day, all the participants tried their best to get their kites in the sky. A few had some success and we all had a lot of fun. The GSE students made four beautiful certificates for the four winners of the contest. All the students voted on the four winners… Here they are:  The Coolest Kite Award went to Putu, a KKC student. The Strongest Kite Award went to Lalita & Anastasia, GSE students | The Greenest Kite award went to Takumi, a GSE student | The Best Kite went to two Middle School students.

It was a really wonderful day and a really wonderful way to learn about different cultures, to practice peer to peer learning and to experience something that is so unique to Bali.

Here you can see Haruto (looking very official) giving an award to some Middle School students.
