Ninth Week of Term 1

Dear Parents,

Greetings. We are in the midst of the last week of Term 1 and it is hard to believe that we are halfway through our first semester. Our Starling Darlings have grown in so many ways and it has been a wonderful start to the school year. We look forward to beginning Term 2 together with a new thematic lesson entitled, “Once Upon a Time”.

Our weekly Teman-Teman program brought us to a new place which is the field next to the Yoga Studio. The children enjoyed playing two types of tag games and ran all around the field together. Thank you Grade 5B for the weeks of play dates and fun.

In Cooking Class, the Starlings surprised Ibu Russlee by preparing a delicious vegan strawberry banana birthday cake for her birthday which will be on Saturday. It also happened to be Pak Brett’s birthday today and when he came to visit us for Music Class, we sang “Happy Birthday” and shared the cake with him too.

Today we celebrated the full moon by preparing kwangen, which are cone-shaped flower offerings. After we finished making our offerings, the Geckos and Starlings joined Kindy B at the temple to participate in a full moon ceremony, led by Ibu Kadek.

In Yoga Class, the students played a yoga game, “Red Light, Green Light, Purple Light”. Each child had a turn to be the traffic light and the Starlings had to freeze in a yoga pose when the traffic light said red light.

In Green Studies with Pak Brett, the children spent time tidying up the garden and clearing away grass and weeds. Students practised mathematical skills such as counting with one-to-one correspondence by playing our new board game, “Snakes and Ladders” as well as problem-solving with new puzzles.

School will be closed next week beginning on Monday, October 9, for our mid-semester break and will reopen on Monday, October 16. We hope you have a rejuvenating and relaxing vacation and look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you for your amazing support this term.
