Our final thematic lesson of Term 3 started this week and it is entitled, “Values”. Each week we will focus on a different value and we began with peace. The students shared their definition of peace and talked about what peace feels like. We explored different ways of making peace signs as well as practiced writing the letters to spell PEACE. The children visited the Shanti House on our campus since shanti means peace in Sanskrit language. The staff in the Shanti House warmly welcomed us and allowed us to use the photocopy machine for a special peace sign art project. Next week we will explore respect.
One of the highlights of the week occurred on Monday morning. Madelief’s older sister Cato, who is known around campus as the Slime Master, came to be our Mystery Guest. She taught us how to make slime and brought all of the materials. Ibu Linda was her amazing assistant and took many fabulous photos of the children having a blast. Here are most of the photos because I love them all! Thank you Cato and Ibu Linda for the wonderful beginning to our week.
I hoped you enjoyed all of those photos! Pak Edu was another Mystery Guest this week who shared a magical story about the baby owl who fell out of a tree in Bamboo Village. Many of the students met this owl last year and they were captivated by Pak Edu’s dynamic tale. Thank you Pak Edu! Today two visitors from Grade 3A game to visit us and taught us how to make origami frogs as well as shared a story. Many thanks to Wyatt and Finnian for visiting us. It’s amazing to see older students working together with our children.
Next Friday (March 10) is our field trip to Bali Bird Park. Please pack a water bottle, snack, lunch and spare clothes for your child. The following Friday (March 17) is Parent Teacher Conferences. The last Friday of the term will be March 24 and this is also our Ogoh-ogoh festival. The children have been working hard on our Ogoh-ogoh and are getting excited for the parade. That last day of school before the mid-semester break will be a half day.
Thanks for your attention and support. Have a wondrous weekend.
