Dear Parents and Friends,
Term 1 has come to an end. These past 8 weeks have been filled with adventures, fun and learning through play. We are very proud of our students as they continue to grow and develop each day. We look forward to continuing our journey through Pre-K Geckos in Term 2.
Gazing at the river
This week, teachers and students began our week together with a gorgeous nature walk where we stopped to visit the frogs in the pond. After walking through fields and blowing dandelion flowers, the Geckos went to see the Ayung river near the vortex. Children enjoyed splashing in the shallow pools and climbing on the rocks.

During the final week of our thematic lesson “Community Helpers”, students loved playing “Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” during Morning Circle as well as “Miss Polly” and “Hurry Hurry Drive the Fire Truck”. We created police badges from recycled cereal boxes, shiny paper, stars and ribbons as well as police cars with cardboard, bottle caps, paper and glue.

In daily Bahasa classes with Ibu Ria, students are being exposed to more and more Indonesian vocabulary words as well as games and songs. This week, Ibu Ria used water, a homemade ship, a fishing pole and dolls to create a highly entertaining puppet show. We were all fascinated! In our weekly Budaya Indonesia class with Ibu Suci, children were mesmerised once again with the creative oral story-telling and colourful puppet show.

On Wednesday, we celebrated Ibu Russlee’s birthday. The children worked together to bake a lemon cake and happily shared with our neighbours in the Pre-K Starlings. Ibu Russlee is so grateful for all of the love from the students and parents. It was truly a special day.

Children have been loving our weekly yoga classes with Ibu Russlee and Ibu Erika. During Ibu Russlee’s maternity leave, Ibu Erika will continue teaching yoga to all of the Early Years students. We are so grateful for her! This week, we tried some partner yoga poses.

School will be closed next week from Monday October 12th – Friday October 16th for a mid-semester break. Classes will resume on Monday, October 19th, and the Pre-K Geckos will begin a new thematic unit entitled “Fairy-Tales”. Next term, we would love to have parents visit the classroom as “Mystery Guests”. Mondays at 9:00 am would be a great time for us to host the Mystery Guests. Please let us know if you would like to sign up. Have a lovely vacation and take care.
