Dear Parents and Friends,
What an awesome week! This week the Geckos explored the sub thematic unit “Trees” and were introduced to parts of trees.
On Monday, we started the day by having a Tree Hunt. We walked around to see some trees that grow on our campus. Our nature walk ended up at the Magic Crystal, and we explored more trees that live around this special space. The Geckos then drew the trees that they observed.
We created colourful decorations for our classroom by painting branches and then applying pompoms with glue on the branches. Pak Brett and Pak Made introduced a plant named cassava (in Bahasa Indonesia: singkong) during Green Studies Class. We explored every part of the cassava plant, such as leaves, trunk, and roots which are edible. In Bahasa Indonesia Class, the students were introduced to new songs and games.
In Cooking Class, we made “Mango Sticky Rice”. They were excited to taste the combination of sticky rice, mango, and coconut milk. In BambaJam Class, Pak Duncan brought colorful bamboo musical instruments for us to play.
On Thursday, the Geckos created flower stamps using recycled plastic bottles. We played throwing and catching ball during P.E Class with Pak Bambang. After the class, we collected leaves on the way to our class. Then we painted those leaves to create natural dream catchers on Friday. The children were proud of their work, and one student exclaimed, “It’s incredible, beautiful”. In Budaya Indonesia Class, the Geckos were astonished by the oral story telling from Ibu Suci.
Next week and the week after, we are going to explore a new sub thematic lesson “Fruit”.
We hope you will have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.
