Dear Parents and Friends,
We had another fun week! Sister rain and brother wind loved to play with us during these days. This week we explored our sub thematic unit “Fruits” through art projects, songs, and games. We also welcomed another new student who joined us this week.
We started the week by creating a watermelon craft. The students cut out shapes, such as triangles and rectangles, then stuck them together by adding glue. Finally, they added small oval-shaped papers as its seeds. This is an example of a creative way to explore emergent mathematical skills through art. We also had Yoga Class in the Geckos Classroom with Ibu Erika.
The Geckos also created a pineapple art project. They were challenged to fold square-shaped papers into triangle shapes. Then the students glued them on an oval-shaped cardboard. On the next day, they used finger painting to create grape art. The students also created an orange fruit paper craft by folding paper and adding leaves. On Friday, the Geckos used their own handprint to make strawberry art.
In Cooking Class, we made Mochi from sticky rice flour. The students rolled the dough and made a ball to create Mochi. They enjoyed eating the snack. During BambaJam Class with Pak Duncan, we were divided into three small groups, and we played a musical game.
In Bahasa Class, the students were mesmerized by oral story telling from Ibu Ria. They were introduced to more vocabulary words in Bahasa Indonesia relating to fruits. We also played a game where students had to find a picture of a fruit when Ibu Ria stated its name in Bahasa Indonesia.
Next week on Tuesday, Pak Brett will take the students to a fun activity “Jump in the Puddle”. Please remember to pack extra clothes and a rain coat/umbrella for your child.
Thank you for your continued love and support. Have a lovely weekend.
