Pre-K Starlings, Term 4 – Week 1

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to Term 4! We also welcomed a new Starling family who just joined us this week. Welcome Angel!

We started our new thematic lesson “Animals” which will last for 6 weeks. This week, we learned about all kinds of animals. The next coming weeks, we will divide this thematic unit into five categories.

The children shared and explored their favorite animal by making art craft, drawing, and doing research as homework. They recited story about their favorite animal, then created a drawing. The teachers sent a paper for the children to bring home and to do the research about their favorite animal with their parents at home. We are so excited to hear about the final research of each kids. The Starlings also decorated a small flat rock with mixed materials to create their favorite animal.

We had the special Holiday Show and Tell. The children came with their holiday baskets and enthusiastically shared their experiences and best moments during their school break.

In literacy, the children matched the pictures of animals to the alphabets based on the first letter of that animal. During Math class, we played “Food Tracking Game”. We practiced on counting, adding and taking away number through the game. We also sorted animals’ pictures and toys into five categories, such as insects, dinosaurs, pets, farm animals, and wild animals.

As the bonus, Pak Ron, ”The Snake Man” came to visit us. We learned about what to do when we see a snake. Then we had a chance to touch and hold his pet python snake “Diva”.

We are looking forward to have another fantastic week next week. Hopefully you will have a good weekend and we see you all next week.
