Student Led Conferences Friday March 9

Dear High School Families:

On Friday, March 9th, we will have student–parent-teacher conferences in the High School from 8.30am-3.15pm. These discussions are great ways for us to be sure we’re working as a team on your children’s learning journeys and we look forward to seeing you and chatting about your child{ren} and their progress. There will not be normal classes for students on this day, however we do ask that the students join for the conferences.

A very important note: We will dedicate the morning (8:30am-12:30pm) to student-led conferences. Our teachers have been encouraging students to take responsibility for their education, and communicating about it with parents through conferences is an important part of this process.

*Please note that students should come to attend the conferences, but there are not classes for students this day.

8:30am – 12:30pm MORNING:

10-minute STUDENT-LED conferences; parents should choose 2 teachers that you would most like to meet with (depending on availability, we can schedule more). To facilitate positive, outcome-focussed conferences, students should spend some time thinking/preparing discussion points around:

1. What can the student do to improve (something to work on developing), maintain (a strength to continue), and grow (something that you would like to be challenged more with) as a learner?

2. How can teachers support students so as to improve their learning outcomes?

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR THE MORNING?

Please email Pak Donnie at donnie.weda@greenschool.org – with first and second preferences for meeting times (between 8:30 – 12:30am).

He will reply to your request confirming a set time.

1:15pm – 3:15pm Informal ‘Open House’ for students and parents to speak to all teachers.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP FOR THE AFTERNOON SESSION.

We understand that, on the Conference day, parents might not be able to meet with every teacher that they would like to meet – and, therefore, we encourage parents to set alternate dates/times for meeting teachers; our HS teachers are very willing to organise other times to talk about your children in our learning program.

Please email me if you have any general questions/concerns about the structure of the day.

All our best,

HS Team
