Greetings. We just had the most wonderful day witnessing our students transform into fabulous teachers, as they had the opportunity to guide their parents and siblings around their classroom, sharing their learning journey. It was our first time holding Student-Led Conferences with our Early Years students and we are thrilled with how the day unfolded. The teachers could not be more proud of our children. Various stations were set-up in our classroom, highlighting different areas of learning, such as Literacy, Maths, Music, Mindfulness, Yoga, Creative Expression, Bahasa Indonesia, Budaya Indonesia, Green Studies and more. Thank you for taking the time to visit us today.
This week, we made our own volcano in the sand pit. Students were excited to mix baking soda, vinegar, dish detergent and food colouring to create a spectacular science experiment.
The Starlings had so many special visitors this week. On our classroom floor, you might have noticed that we have many multi-coloured footprints from animals found in Bali. To complete the footprints, we were searching for the shortest foot at Green School and the longest foot. The main criteria was that the foot had to belong to a current student. We found the shortest foot from our neighbouring class, the Pre-K Geckos and the longest foot was from a High School student. Seher enjoyed painting the High School student’s foot and he stamped it on the floor. Many thanks to Pak Dan, a High School teacher, who helped us find this student.
Myla’s Mom and Dad surprised us on Wednesday morning as our Mystery Guests. They brought Myla’s pet dog, “Max” and the children loved sharing their own personal stories about their dogs. Max loves to have his tummy rubbed and he was extremely gentle and friendly. Thanks for visiting us!
We celebrated Nirvana’s birthday twice this week! On Monday, we shared cupcakes with Nirvana’s family and on Thursday, Pak Sal brought some of Nirvana’s favourite books from home and shared them with us during Story Time. Happy 5th Birthday Nirvana!
Wednesday was Ibu Krisna’s birthday. We surprised her by making her two different kinds of birthday cake. Both of them were vegan and gluten-free. We mixed together sago and banana flour to create the batter. One cake had cocoa powder and the other cake had freshly squeezed limes. Happy Birthday Ibu Krisna!
In Yoga Class, we attempted some new yoga poses and enjoyed a variety of forward bends balanced by backward bends.
We are looking forward to our Ogoh-Ogoh parade on Thursday (March 15) at 9:00 AM. We hope you can join us at Green School to celebrate this wonderful event. School will be closed on Friday, March 16, in observance of the day before Nyepi and the Ogoh-Ogoh parades around Bali. We will begin our mid-Semester break and school will resume on Wednesday, March 4, for all students. Thanks for your support and love.
