Hi MS Team
The 2015-16 academic year has been full of fun, challenges, growth, and life-long learning. It is an absolute honour to be a part of the amazing learning community we have at Green School – and, in particular, the coolest Middle School ever. August 2015 seems like a long time ago – and, yet, it also feels like the year has rocketed past. Where does the time go?
Our MS Thematics reached a new dimension this year. We taught new thematics in our ‘GS way’ – packed with Science and Global Issues. But, we also introduced two new game-style thematics. Pak Driver and Pak Noan were instrumental in putting these programs together – much gratitude and respect to them both.
The Maths program continued to develop it’s student-centered approach. With the Singapore Maths learning outcomes and small class-groups – combined with an amazing team of innovative teachers – our Numeracy Proficiency program has again proven very successful.
The MS Literacy program this year was amazing. Just quietly, don’t tell anyone, but here is a Maths/Science teacher saying he loved teaching English. I had so much fun teaching Science in the Literacy block – and I know the students in my units enjoyed the opportunity to build literacy skills whilst learning scientific content.
In general, as I look back over the year, I’m amazed by the plethora of choice available to students in MS. I sometimes wish I was could time-travel and be a student here. Importantly, innovative, student-centered, education programs don’t happen without inspired, motivated, hard-working, intelligent and creative teachers – and it is barely enough to say THANK YOU to all the MS teachers for their amazing efforts and achievements this year. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the MS students and parents for their commitment to the continued development of this amazing learning community.
In conclusion, I would like to wish all of the families who are leaving GS – returning home or on to new adventures – the very best and all the happiness they deserve. To the families returning for 2016-17, I look forward to seeing you all in August.
Have a relaxing, fun and exciting holiday.
