Hi Grade 4 Community,
Wow, it is hard to believe that it is already the end of Term 1! Time sure has flown by. This week, like all weeks, has been super busy and filled with great learning opportunities.
In swimming lessons, students have really improved their skills and their endurance has really grown. It is great to see everyone now diving!
On Tuesday, we had an insightful trip to a local school where we watched traditional dancing, had a Q & A with the principal and participated in different activities with the local students. It was great to see how a Balinese school is the same and different from our own. The students also participated and interacted extremely well in an environment outside of their comfort zone.
On Wednesday, we had a very active day with House Sports. Go Fire, Earth, Air and Water! Early this week, we also participated in a ‘Helping Hands’ project, where students met up with some of the housekeeping and gardening community of the school. These experts taught us about the daily tasks needed to make sure is clean and green. We tried working alongside them-what hard work! This activity helped us learn to appreciate and be grateful for all of the hard work that is put into making the school a great place to be.
This week, we were also busy creating and innovating at the iHub! We learnt how essential oils are created, melted recycled plastic into molds and created cardboard hands using a variety of different tools.
On Friday, we celebrated a fantastic first term with a little dance party in our jungle camp!
Thank you for all of your support this term and we wish you a wonderful, adventurous and restful holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back on the 21st of October.
A little look ahead:
Over the holidays, if students could please find one item or take a photo of one thing they find really interesting to share, that would be super. It would also be nice if they could write 3 ‘I wonder…’ questions about it to encourage some deep thinking.
Math: we will start the new term by exploring decimals and understanding what they are. We will also share different mental calculation strategies for addition.
Literacy: our next unit will focus on poetry. We will kick it off by exploring different poem styles and writing our own, inspired by nature.
