Happy New Year Family and Friends,
We welcome a new student to our Kindy B family, Arun from Switzerland! We have all been so excited to see each other and get back into our routines. The children have all returned a little taller, a little more mature, and ready for the new semester.
We went on a super long nature hike around green school campus, treading into some areas that were new to us all, assisted by the Green School grounds caretakers. We ended with a nice long rest on the bridge.
We made apple and pear juice with honey and mint with Ibu Parwati. Our cooking class has changed to Mondays at 11 this semester.
The students have been exploring and learning about the many ways to work with clay as a medium of artistic expression with our new clay center in the classroom. We are beginning the year with practicing CVC words and introducing high frequency words, appropriate for a kindergarten level. In maths, the children are reviewing numbers, counting, and practicing calendar math (days of the week, months of the year, etc.)
We also started our new music class with Pak Alex this semester. The class enjoyed learning about the Balinese instruments and having a dance off while Pak Alex played the drums for them.
The rains brought a fun activity using watercolors. “Rain painting”!
In Bahasa Indonesia, the class is beginning to prepare for Nyepi and beginning to discuss with Ibu Yulia the Ogoh Ogoh.
See you next week!
